Do the cable car to Monte, You see great views of the city. I recommend a return trip, around €15. You could come back on a toboggan, don't pay a taxi to get back to Funchal, it is a 10-15 Min walk.
See as much of the Island as you can and the cheapest way is to hire a car, this way you can go at your own pace.
Cabo Girão, The second highest sea cliff in the world standing at 580 metres is well worth seeing for its views.
Food and Drink. Eating out can be cheap in Madeira, and here im going to help you avoid Tourist Prices and eat and drink cheaply.
