I have lived on this Island for a while now, and want to share with you some ideas to see and do while on holiday in Madeira.
Below i have made a list of places to visit, things to do, places to see, and some of my favourite places to eat and drink.

What to See and Do in Madeira.......
Do a Levada Walk, These are unique, and one of the only ways you will truely see the real Madeira. There are many to choose from so something for everyone.
See as much of the Island as you can and the cheapest way is to hire a car, this way you can go at your own pace.
Do the cable car to Monte, You see great views of the city. I recommend a return trip, €15 and avoid the toboggans as this is a tourist trap, but can be fun if you have the money.
Visit Madeira's Gardens. Flowers Flowers everywhere, Madeira has many beautiful gardens. The Botanical, Tropical, Palheiro to name but a few.
Cabo Girão, The second highest sea cliff in the world standing at 580 metres is well worth seeing for its views.
Madeira is one of the best places in the world to see Whale's & Dolphin's. So a boat trip is a must.
The Peaks. You can drive up to Pico do Arieiro and will see spectacular views, and if you feel very energetic you can walk the trail to Pico Ruivo.
So much more. Plenty of Museums. Fish, Fruit and Veg Market (Friday). Diving is Fantastic. Open Top Bus Tours. Natural Rock Pools of Porto Moniz. Sandy Beaches at Calheta Machico & Caniçal (Prainha)....
Food and Drink. Eating out can be cheap in Madeira, and here im going to help you avoid Tourist Prices and eat and drink cheaply.
